The Games of July 2020: Release Dates to Remember

FACTS is going over July’s video game releases and highlights a few comic con related subjects you could be looking out for. Which new characters will spawn popular cosplays, which games will bring there some new exciting gaming competitions to the horizon and how will this affect the next con season? Iron Man VR

Friday, July 3rd

If you were among the lucky ones to try this game out at FACTS in 2019, you already know it’s going to be a great superhero experience. Get into Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit in virtual reality and save the day with and against prominent Marvel characters in person. The cinemas might be closed, but this game will give you the superhero dose we all desperately need.

ROCKET ARENA

Tuesday, July 14th

XBOX ONE / PLAYSTATION 4 / PC

This brand new hero shooter is probably best described as a mix of Super Smash Bros., Quake and Overwatch. You use rockets, acrobatics and character specific abilities to yeet your opponents out of the stage. You can do rocket jumps, triple jumps, flying moves and you’ll be zooming through the gorgeous stages like it’s no big deal. As a competitive 3v3 based game, Rocket Arena has the potential to grow into an Esport. And if its popularity takes off, it could also become an Overwatch-like cosplay factory with its many colourful characters. Keep an eye out for Rocket Arena next FACTS!

PAPER MARIO: THE ORIGAMI KING

Friday, July 17th

NINTENDO SWITCH

Paper Mario is back, this time to fight origami villains in a high-quality open world story. If you’re a fan of interesting puzzles, a strong RPG base, good humour and cool new mechanics, then this promises to be a really entertaining game to play. And hey, it’s Mario, so you know it’s going to be good.

GHOST OF TSUSHIMA

Friday, July 17th

PLAYSTATION 4

In this stunning open-world adventure, you take on the mantle of Jin Saka, a samurai warrior defending his home from Mongol invaders in 13th century Japan. The visuals, style and overall look & feel are gorgeous, and the gameplay focuses on amazing sword fights, stealth and grapple hooks. Time those attacks, slice & dice the opponents and sheathe your sword like it was no big deal. If you’re up for a challenge, then dive into this bloody vengeance story head-first.
